Genuine Santa Barbara County Wines...
Wow, what a year! We battled the elements this year, with very strange weather and plenty of obstacles. First we skipped summer in the summer, and June gloom proceeded into July, August and September. Then all of summer intensified in a couple of weeks in the fall. Then for good measure, Mother Nature gave us a blast of sporadic rains to remind us who was in charge. Mold, botrytis, too much ripening and then not enough.
The weather forecasters were not on our side, and neither was Mother Nature. But we were right on top of it and picked before the damage was done. Normally, we do all we can, and a small percentage is to pray to the wine gods. This year, we did all we can, and we hope the wine gods will pick up more of a percentage. Anyone who tells you differently, well, I hope I reach that enlightenment one day. Gunga galunga. At least Bill Murray and I have that going for us.
These are the last of our 07s (we saved the biggest for last) and the 08 blends that are more approachable. I would drink these 08s before 07s and if you have any 06s, they are showing the best right now. FINALLY, BE A CLUB MEMBER, AND GET OFFERS ON GREAT WINE DEALS!
I hope you enjoy these wines, today, tomorrow, and for years to come—J.L. Bonaccorsi
Sommelier Mike Bonaccorsi has created wines of superb balance and harmony in the first vintages of his career. I always thought that a winemaker with a great store of tasting experience would have an advantage over a purely technically trained enologist. Bonaccorsi is proof of this, and he surely must be proud of his work.
